Seems like old news now. Tres Allegro's on the way back from Le Mans. A successful Mission and a debut appearance for the Castrol V8. Water was the common theme of the weekend. We drove through biblical thunder storms, tents got flooded and the V8 was guzzling more water to stay cool than the rest of us drunk beer. Big thanks to all the nice comments, support (when we we're overheating) and many thumbs-up en-route. Post-Mission To Do List: (1) Fix overheating problem (2) Add NOS.
Down to the vinegar strokes...with Le Mans now just 20 days away the long list of jobs to complete on the Castrol V8 build is slowly getting smaller. There is even a hope of an MOT next week (which should be interesting). Reading the news I wonder whether we should have made the fuel tank a bit bigger - or whether building the car around a 6.3L V8 was as sensible as we thought at the time :o) Anyway, camping and tunnel booked and no Plan B, so looks like some late nights...
In Primer...
Now in Primer! If you mix enough alcohol with enough petrol you will eventually come up with a good idea. Having put Lamborghini doors on a Gulf themed Allegro, the next best idea we had was to put a V8 engine in an a Castrol-themed Allegro. This particular engine is a 6.3 litre stroked unit, pushing out about 400bhp. Obviously we will need to add nitrous once it is built. Watch this space.
